Stop the
Harassment

You have legal rights. We can help.

Are you getting calls from debt collectors every day, even a work although your boss prohibits such calls? Many collection agencies intentionally violate state and federal consumer debt collection laws, hoping that you aren’t aware of your legal rights and that you will give in under the pressure and pay.

Below is an overview of the federal consumer protection statutes allow you to sue an unethical collection agency when they go too far.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates how third-party debt collectors must conduct themselves when communicating with indebted consumers. It also offers important legal protection to debtors.

When your rights are not respected by debt collectors, you can file a lawsuit to affirm these protections and seek damages when appropriate.

  • Using profane and obscene language
  • Pretending to be attorneys, police officers, or federal agents
  • Claiming that you owe an amount that’s not supported by law or the original creditor agreement
  • Reporting inaccurate information to the credit bureaus
  • Threatening legal action they cannot take or have no intention of taking
  • Contacting you directly even after you’ve hired an attorney to represent you in the matter
