Steven Schaller vs. AD Astra Recovery Services, Inc. et al*

According to PACER, in or around July 7, 2013, AD Astra Recovery Services, Inc. allegedly started trying to collect a payday loan debt from Illinois resident Steven Schaller. Although Mr. Schaller insisted that he had never received a payday loan, the agency allegedly used verbal abuse to try to intimidate him into paying.

Feeling harassed by AD Astra Recovery Services, Inc., he hired a consumer attorney and sued the company for allegedly violating the FDCPA in the following ways:

  • Using false, deceptive, misleading and unfair or unconscionable means to collect or attempt to collect an alleged debt
  • Falsely representing the character, amount, or legal status of the debt
  • Threatening to communicate false credit information

The matter was later dismissed.
