Are You Being Called By MTGLQ Investors?*

In these difficult financial times, more people are finding themselves unable to pay their debts. To compel payment, debt collectors have become more persistent and abusive. They call people at unreasonable hours and swear at them, knowing that most debtors are unaware of their rights.

Your Rights Under the FDCPA

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDCPA, regulates debt collection activities. It also provides an avenue for you to dispute a debt and takes swift action against companies that use the following tactics.

  • Yelling at you
  • Demanding more than the actual debt total
  • Calling you at work after they’ve been advised that such calls are not allowed
  • Threatening to send the sheriff to your house
  • Reporting false information to the credit bureaus
  • Contacting you directly after you retain an attorney
